New Years Eve Wedding . Sneak Peek

Amy & Phil get this supersized sneak peek because…. well… I really really like these two. And this post will be more pictures than words but you’re probably okay with that. I’ll be sure to follow up with more of each.
Two things: A huge hug and thank you’s to Kat Hanafin Photography for second shooting with me.
And please do scroll all the way to the last image and check out what we were up to in the early hours of the New Year. Happy 2011!!

You can always do a search for “light writing” but here’s my recipe.
-Find some place that’s mostly pitch black,
-use an led keychain light, flash light, iphone, etc…
      -camera on a tripod,
      -manual exposure,
-set it for 30 seconds (that gives you 30 seconds to write)
      -ISO 200
      -f8
-manual focus & set it on where the writer will be
(my trick is to have the writer shine the light on their face where they’ll be writing. Focus on their face, either auto or manual)
-the writer will have to write backwards or you could always flip it later. Hearts are easy!
-you can always merge two photos together. EX: my thank you cards are “light written” and I needed two exposures. Just remember to keep nice spaces between letters and words.
-I got an exposure on their face by just walking up and popping a flash, while I had them stare at the camera. I forget the exact flash exposure – probably 1/32 or 1/16.
-oh, and cover the flash light when not writing or when you want spaces or it will look like cursive.
It might take practice but these two did a great job!!

Oh that’s just my Mom (logged in under my Dad) and she’s talking about some slideshows, set to music that I did for some summer weddings. http://vimeo.com/user2409467/videos
Amy, I would love to put something like this together for your wedding. I’ve just got to get through all the pictures first. Tomorrow’s snow day will help me focus on work.
