Suzanne and Jon wanted to shoot their Engagement / Practice Session at The Granby Oak in Granby, CT. I couldn’t say YES fast enough. Last night we took advantage of a reprieve from unrelenting April showers, a setting sun and dodging mushy wet grass.
The image above is a 10 image panorama shot with a tripod. The tree is 450 years old and 80 feet tall. The most striking thing about it is its gangly limbs that stretch out farther than it is tall and rest on the ground. Good for lounging on or some careful climbing.

The fascinating thing about capturing a series of pictures is finding a little moment like the one below. I didn’t think much of it till I was scanning the few hundred captures on my computer. I feel moved by the sincerity and quietness of that moment and glad that they have it even if I didn’t realize I took it with that purpose.
I’ll see them again in a few short months for their wedding in front of another great tree. The one where their ceremony will take place at The Red Barn at Hampshire College.
