Spoiler Alert:
She said YES!
Proposal photography is super FUN….. and then I think of the logistics and everything that we have to plan in advance to make sure it goes right. This was the first time I’d ever photographed one at night. I scouted the Seaport in Boston for the perfect place. FOUND IT! It’s this marquee light installation in a small park. Perfect for nighttime…. but the photographer in me knows that it’s dark. Potentially too dark to really capture the moment.
Solution: Light It!
As I would for any proposal, I diagram our Plan A and where everyone should stand (and then there’s talk of Plan Bs or Cs)
We successfully dodged all the little things that could have derailed our Plan A, some by luck and some by skill.
- it didn’t rain
- the crowd of people cleared away
- our Plan A worked perfectly
- my lights fired when I wanted them to fire
- my heart eventually started to beat normally
The whole thing happens so quickly and once all of our hearts jumped back into our chests we shot a few portraits.
But only a few because there were a lot of people to call and the big news to break.
