Rebecca and Nate emailed me a few weeks ago about photographing their holiday wedding.
The circumstances were unique:
-not much notice.
I love last minute shoots that I get to pencil in.
-it was a Tuesday, between Christmas & New Years.
Tuesday is the new Saturday, don’t you know?
-they live across the country and I wouldn’t meet them till a week before the actual wedding day.
But Rebecca immediately felt familiar when I found out she grew up in Western Mass.
Hatfield, to be exact and we knew some of the same people.
-Their Mormon ceremony would be in Belmont and the reception would be in Northampton at The R. Michelson Gallery.
Logistically it might have been a tall order for some but I live near the temple and my parents aren’t far from Northampton. My Mom’s always happy to have me home for a night. That’s a win for everyone.
And the gallery – totally cool. Originally a bank, now an art gallery but maintained the vault. An exciting space to shoot. I feel lucky!
So here’s what we were up to yesterday
Nate, Rebecca and the family were having a open house gathering for family and friends to celebrate the soon-to-be couple. I arrived before the festivities and after the “nice to meet you’s”, we did some wedding day talk, etc…
Rebecca was prepping the hair, make-up and her dress happened to be her real deal wedding dress. Not just any wedding dress but a dress that’s been worn by a half-dozen other family members. Now I hadn’t expected the official wedding dress until the wedding day, but I love the unexpected. We were planning to shoot more of an engagement session but instead we staged a “First Look” out in front of the cutest, most quintessential small town, winter church setting I’ve ever seen. I’ll let the photo line up tell the rest. But how amazing right?
More about these two next week….
LOVE this Steph!!!!!!!
